Curiosity Journey

We have some tools as a guide in the journey of curiosity.

The first is humility. Understand that our brain is limited. The only problem is that we have this tool to understand the world.

The second is meta-cognition. That is, think about thinking.

We are emotional, we have prejudices and mistakes, we take mental shortcuts. Their knowledge is essential.

The third is to understand the method of science. How it works What is the nature of denial of pseudoscience and science and where mistakes are made in science.

A cute  girl have some doubt.

The first weapon of curiosity is doubt. This is not a philosophical skepticism.

Philosophical skepticism is a position of constant doubt. Doubt everything. Even though we may know something.

Not even a position to be a scientific skeptic.

This does not mean that there should be a negative attitude towards humanity and that it should not be trusted or that every mainstream idea should be opposed.

The word skepticism and this attitude have been hijacked by those who reject science. But that doesn't mean it. It has some rules.

Curiosity is based on the fact that our opinions and beliefs must be in harmony with reality.

The belief that we can know this world because it follows certain laws called the laws of nature.

If this belief is true (and yet there is no reason not to) then the result is that the laws can be understood in the light of the evidence.

Twenty years ago, it was considered enough to explain the science and that's it. But now we know very well that this assumption is not correct.

A 2017 study by John Cook shows that facts do not change people's minds. To change one's mind, one has to understand the mind. And your own mind.

.. .. .. .. ...

The old question of philosophy is, "Is it better to know than not to know?"

And philosophy also shows that there is no good answer to this question that everyone can agree on.

 It's just a choice.

The first condition of curiosity is to answer this question in the affirmative.
